Food has long been recognized as a universal language, capable of transcending cultural barriers and fostering connections between people from diverse backgrounds. In today’s globalized world, where boundaries are increasingly blurred and cultural exchange is celebrated, wisinomad cook-off challenge is designed to be a unique platform for culinary diplomacy. This allows our participants to fully immerse themselves in the local culture by engaging the community through social interactions and banter.

 

The wisinomad cook-off challenge is more than just culinary competition; it’s opportunities for cultural exchange, skill development, economic growth, and social empowerment. By bringing together participants from around the globe who then choose to celebrate the art of cooking, the competition fosters connections, inspire innovation, and promote understanding in an increasingly interconnected world. As we savor the flavors of diverse cuisines and celebrate the talents of participants from all walks of life, we take a step closer towards building a more harmonious and flavorful future, even for generations to come.

 

 

How does it work?

 

  1. Team formation: People form teams of 3-5 individuals per team.
  2. They choose 1 type of dish to cook from each of the two categories
  3. They take time to buy ingredients and maybe a few specific cutlery
  4. Each team is given a 5 hour slot to cook their 2 dishes .
  5. Food presentations are done and images are submitted virtually and they will be strictly anonymous
  6. The final food images will be shared on twitter by our administrator and a poll is made for people to vote
  7. Voting takes 24 hours
  8. The winning team is announced
  9. Prizes include , fully paid weekend (2 nights) accommodation at The Victoria Falls for the winning team.

 


Food categories

 

African cuisine :

 

 

 

Each team has to pick at least one dish to cook from this category. They should be able to source the ingredients  (which can be done a day before) and also start and finish cooking within the stipulated time frame of 5 hours.

 

Non African Cuisine :

 

 

 

Each team will each pick a dish from this category. This can be any dish from any culture. It’s highly recommended that people choose a dish from at least one of their team members culture. This fosters a good cultural exchange that the audience will so much enjoy. Also, demonstrating something new to a different audience may help you gain votes. It will also be prudent to consider ingredients availability locally.


Tips

 

  1. At the end of the day, this is all about votes, so make sure to engage your audience as early as team formation stage.
  2. Make this experience fun and be likeable
  3. Choose dishes which can be fully done within the stipulated time. You have 5 hours for both dishes so you may not have ample time.
  4. Go an extra mile in your food presentations, that’s what matters most. People vote for what they find to be appetizing and visually appealing.
  5. Don’t be too serious,relax,engage and have fun.
