Zimbabwe Safari Experiences
What beats having a Safari Experience in Africa? This should definitely be on your bucket list. Luckily this is one of our weekend core events at wisinomad. When we are not working we take time to disconnect and go and enjoy one of the most surreal nature experiences in the world. Not only is it calming but it’s also educative, through observing, understanding and learning from the laws of the jungle. From Lion hunting habits to vulture scavenging tactics as well as baboons great wit. The plants, the insects, trees and rivers all speak of a great creative force!
We go for these activities as a group, keeping the group experience is always more beneficial and more fulfilling.
The Victoria Falls
Known by the local Tonga Tribe as Mosi-Oa Tunya, which means the smoke that thunders, Victoria Falls is an amazing 350 feet waterfall down the edge of the mighty Zambezi Valley. David Livingstone, who was an 18th century British explorer was the first European to see the falls, he described it very passionately in his diaries and wrote the following, “No one can imagine the beauty of the view from anything witnessed in England. It had never been seen before by European eyes; but scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.”
Indeed the Victoria Falls is quite an experience and there are many activities too, it’s one of the seven wonders of the world and attracts people from all over the world who come to have recreational activities in the small and cozy town. As wisinomad, this is one place that we recommend our participants to visit and have a unique group experience.

The Boma Dinner
This is a buffet style dinner with vibrant cultural dances and african drums, music and ululating. Nothing speaks of african culture and cuisine more than the Boma experience. A four course meal with disserts will be served all while immersed in interactive entertainment.
The Lion Walk
They say in order to live a fully fulfilled life, one has to conquer their fears. The lion walk is one experience that literally puts that statement to the test. This is a bold walk with real lions. Yes, it’s a bit overwhelming but with the guidance and assurance of well trained professional guides nearby, you can be rest assured of a safe and enjoyable experience.
Matobo Hills
Matobo Hills -About half an hour away from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city, there is a range of granite hills with long caves and balancing rocks. These make up gorgeous views and is endowed with beautiful caves and rock paintings dating back 5000 years ago. This is believed to be the work of the San people who are said to be one of the oldest inhabitants of the Southern African region, dating back as far as 30000 years ago.
The Great Zimbabwe Ruins
These are 11th century abandoned settlements by local tribes. The architecture demonstrates the ancient tribe’s power and prowess. The walls which still stand up to date were built without mortar, relying on carefully shaped rocks to hold the wall’s shape on their own. Archaeologists have found pottery from China and Persia as well as Arab coins which is evidence of strong trading activities back then. The ruins of Great Zimbabwe were designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1986.
